We will make a 115 km road trip to the west of Santiago towards the Pacific Ocean coastline. Valparaiso, a city that was important to artists, bohemians, and romantics, housed the Nobel laureate poet Pablo Neruda and was a crucial place until the end of the 19th century. This was because it was an important port where ships coming from the Atlantic Ocean stopped to transition to the Pacific Ocean. Additionally, it was where copper extracted from Chile’s rich copper mines was dispatched. After the opening of the Panama Canal in 1914, the city lost its importance. However, today it is a beautiful city that tourists and young people wish to visit and live in. Valparaiso is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our next stop is to see the city of Viña Del Mar. We will have lunch at a local restaurant along the way, where we will have the opportunity to taste Chilean seafood. The city of Viña del Mar was the first place where vineyards were set up for grape production. However, due to the cold of the Pacific Ocean at night, vineyards were moved to more inland areas. Today, it hosts summer houses and casinos. After our visit to Viña del Mar, we will return to Santiago. If time permits, we may stop at vineyards in Vitacura or Casa Blanca valleys to visit the vineyards where Chilean wines are produced. We will also have the chance to taste these wines. It is known that the first settlers came to this area in 1920. The earliest settlers escaped the city's density after encountering jaguars in the forest, mistaking them for tigers, leading to this region being named Tigre. Tigre is still an important production area, as it was when it was first established. After our tour, we will return to Buenos Aires and transfer to the airport to catch our return flight. After completing our baggage and passport procedures, we will commence our journey back to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines’ scheduled direct flight. We spend the night on the plane.
