ISTANBUL – BASEL – FREIBURG – ALSACE/BASEL
After completing baggage drop-off, ticketing, and passport control procedures at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport International Terminal by being ready 3 hours before the flight, we fly to Basel on Pegasus Airlines scheduled flight PC941 at 14:25. Upon arrival at Basel Airport at 15:30 local time, we meet our private bus and depart for Freiburg, the most important example of green urbanism, to begin our city tour. In Freiburg, where since 2010 only low-carbon vehicles have been allowed to enter and transportation is largely provided by tram and bicycle, it is possible to see traces of the historical and architectural cultures of Germany, France, Austria, Spain, and Sweden, which the city has been under the protection of throughout history. On our city tour in Freiburg, also known as the capital of the Black Forest (Schwarzwald), the city’s most important landmark, Freiburg Cathedral, the charming streets with the city’s unique small water canals, Martin’s Gate, a medieval gate dating back to the Middle Ages, and Rathausplatz are among the places to be seen. After the Freiburg tour, following some free time, we depart for our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region. Upon arrival at the hotel, room check-in and free time for rest.
ALSACE/BASEL – (Alsace Pearls: Colmar & Riquewihr Tour) – (Strasbourg & Outlet Tour)
After breakfast, we offer a full day of free time. During this free time, guests who wish may join our optional Alsace Pearls: Colmar & Riquewihr Tour (80 Euro). On this tour, we first travel to the fairy-tale town of Colmar, where we will see the Old Customs House, the Pfister House, and the colorful houses around the Rhine River in the city’s most famous area, Petite Venise (Little Venice). In this unique setting surrounded by the Rhine River and canals, you will have the chance to enjoy many delicious foods according to your taste as well as shop for many souvenirs. Our next stop is Riquewihr, famous for its vineyards, flower-decorated balconies, distinctive row of shops, cobblestone pedestrian streets, buildings that somehow survived World War II without damage, and charming cafes; a town that looks like it came straight out of a Grimm fairy tale, with its tower housing the Dolder Museum, which preserves the town’s history and documents to this day. After the tour, during the free time provided, guests who wish may join our optional Strasbourg & Outlet Tour (75 Euro). Located on the borders of Germany, Switzerland, and France, and also the largest city in the Alsace region, Strasbourg welcomes us with a beauty like a painting, as if it were taken straight from a fairy tale. During the walking city tour in Strasbourg’s pedestrianized center and streets, which was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1988 and has hosted the European Parliament since 1992, we will see Petite France, famous for its Alsace Houses and making us feel as though we are in the middle of a fairy-tale land, Gutenberg Square and its statue, Notre Dame Cathedral, the city’s most important structure located in the heart of the city, and Kammerzell House, the oldest house in the city and still operating today as a hotel and restaurant. After free time in Strasbourg, we head out to visit the outlet. We will offer free time at the outlet center, home to stylish stores of many prestigious brands, cafes and restaurants, and personal activity areas. After the free time at the Outlet Center, we return to our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region.
ALSACE/BASEL – (Lucerne & Bern & Swiss Alpine Villages by Train: Interlaken & Lauterbrunnen Tour)
After breakfast, we offer a full day of free time. During this free time, guests who wish may join our optional Lucerne & Bern & Swiss Alpine Villages by Train: Interlaken & Lauterbrunnen Tour (125 Euro). Our first stop on the tour is Lucerne. In Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most popular tourist centers, famous for its nature and festivals held throughout the year, we will have the chance to photograph the views of Mount Pilatus and Mount Rigi, see the Musegg Wall and the Lion Monument in the old town with its historic houses, and visit the city’s symbol, the Chapel Bridge, as well as the Jesuit Church dating from the 17th century. After the Lucerne tour, we depart for Interlaken. Named from “inter-lakes” due to its location between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, Interlaken is famous for its natural beauty and the breathtaking views belonging to it, and we will conduct our tour there. The region’s important hotels, casinos, and shopping streets are along the walking tour route. Among the places we will see are the Victoria Jungfrau Hotel and Höhematte Park, both of which are historical symbols of the town, viewed panoramically. After free time for photos and a walk around the area, we head to the train station for the next stop of our tour, Lauterbrunnen. After about a 20-minute journey on the train departing from Interlaken, we arrive in Lauterbrunnen. We will feel the deep structure of the valley and steep rock walls as soon as we exit the station. While walking to the village center, we will see Staubbach Falls, with its breathtaking form cascading toward the valley floor, from a panoramic perspective and have the chance to photograph it. Lauterbrunnen is known for its small settlements lined along the valley that is home to 72 waterfalls and its walking trails. On our walk through the village along the designated route, we will take plenty of photos of the region’s traditional chalet architecture, the natural formations surrounding the valley floor, and the wonderful natural landscapes that resemble paradise. We complete the tour by returning to Interlaken. Our next stop is Bern. Bern is one of the few cities in Europe that has remained unchanged since the Middle Ages. Due to this historical fabric, it is included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. Located within Switzerland and where the official language is German, Bern also reflects the influence of German culture in its architecture. After our city tour in Bern, built around the Aare River, we return to our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region.
ALSACE/BASEL – BASEL – ISTANBUL
After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we depart to conduct our Basel city tour. Basel, the third largest and most populated city in Switzerland after Zurich and Geneva, is located in the north of the country on the borders with Germany and France. In Basel, one of Europe’s most metropolitan cities, where people from many different origins live, our panoramic city tour will include Marktplatz, considered the city’s square and home to the government building, Basel Gate (Spalen Gate), one of the city’s oldest structures, Basel Cathedral, and the Rhine River. After the Basel tour and some free time, we head to Basel Airport. Upon arrival at the airport and after completing baggage drop-off, check-in, and passport control procedures, we fly to Istanbul on Pegasus Airlines scheduled flight PC942 at 16:35. Arrival at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport at 21:35 Istanbul time and the end of our tour.
