Meet at the Turkish Airlines check-in counter at Istanbul Airport's international departure terminal three hours before the flight. After baggage, ticket, and passport procedures, we depart for Basel with Turkish Airlines flight TK 1923 at 07:30. Arriving in Basel at 09:40 local time, our panoramic city tour begins with our vehicle waiting at the airport. We will visit the Basel Minster, where the famous Renaissance writer Dutch Erasmus is buried, the Münster Square, Grossbasel and Kleinbasel, the old Venetian Consulate that is one of the city’s historic buildings, the main square, and the marketplace Marktplatz. After the tour, we move on to Strasbourg. During our tour, we explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Grande Île region. Here, we will see the gothic masterpiece Notre-Dame Cathedral, the fairy-tale neighborhood of Petite France surrounded by canals, and Kleber Square. The Petite France region is famous for its half-timbered houses with colorful facades. These structures showcase the most beautiful examples of Alsatian architecture known as “colombage.” These wooden skeleton houses, with red-tiled roofs and ornate details, offer a complete medieval atmosphere.
For many years, a Germanic dialect called Alsatian was spoken in the Alsace region, but today the majority of the population uses French. However, you can still see German influence on the signs and village names. After our exploration, free time will be given for our guests to explore the lively streets of the city on their own. During this time, guests can taste the flavors of Alsatian cuisine or shop for souvenirs from traditional shops. In the evening, we will transfer to our hotel in Strasbourg.
