İSTANBUL – BASEL – FREIBURG – ALSACE/BASEL
We arrive at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport’s International Terminal 3 hours before departure, complete baggage drop-off, ticketing, and passport control, and then fly to Basel on Pegasus Airlines scheduled flight PC941 at 14:25. Upon arrival at Basel Airport at 15:30 local time, we meet our private coach and depart for Freiburg, one of the most important examples of green urbanism, to begin our city tour. In Freiburg, the “happy city,” where only low-carbon vehicles have been allowed to enter since 2010 and transportation is mainly by tram and bicycle, our city tour will reveal traces of the historical and architectural cultures of Germany, France, Austria, Spain, and Sweden, which have all ruled the city throughout history. During our Freiburg tour, also known as the capital of the Black Forest (Schwarzwald), we will see the Freiburg Cathedral, the city’s most important symbol, the charming streets with Freiburg’s unique small water channels, Martin’s Tor, the medieval city gate, and Rathausplatz. After the Freiburg tour and some free time, we transfer to our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region. Upon arrival at the hotel, room assignment and free time to rest.
ALSACE/BASEL – (Pearls of Alsace: Colmar & Riquewihr Tour) – (Strasbourg & Outlet Tour)
After breakfast at the hotel, the day is free at leisure. During this free time, guests who wish may join our optional Pearls of Alsace: Colmar & Riquewihr Tour (80 Euro). On this tour, we first travel to the fairy-tale town of Colmar, where we will see the Old Customs House, the Pfister House, and the most famous part of the city around the Rhine River, Petite Venise (Little Venice), with its colorful houses. In this unique setting surrounded by the Rhine River and canals, you will have the opportunity to enjoy many delicious foods according to your taste and shop for souvenirs. Our next stop is Riquewihr, famous for its vineyards, flower-filled balconies, unique rows of shops, car-free cobblestone streets, buildings that somehow survived World War II without damage, and charming cafés; it is like something out of a Grimm fairy tale, with its tower housing the Dolder Museum, which preserves the town’s story through documents. After the tour, during the free time, guests who wish may join our optional Strasbourg & Outlet Tour (75 Euro). Located on the border of Germany, Switzerland, and France, and also the largest city in the Alsace region, Strasbourg welcomes us like a picture straight out of a fairy tale. In the pedestrian center and streets of Strasbourg, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988 and has hosted the European Parliament since 1992, we will see Little France (Petite France), famous for its Alsace houses and making us feel right in the middle of a fairy-tale land, Gutenberg Square and its statue, Notre Dame Cathedral, the city’s most important structure located in the heart of the city, and Kammerzell House, the city’s oldest house, which still serves as a hotel and restaurant today. After free time following the Strasbourg city tour, we head to the outlet for a visit. At the outlet center, home to stylish stores of many prestigious brands, cafés and restaurants, and leisure areas, we will have free time. After the free time at the Outlet Center, we return to our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region.
ALSACE/BASEL – (Lucerne & Bern & Swiss Alpine Villages by Train: Interlaken & Lauterbrunnen Tour)
After breakfast at the hotel, we offer a full day at leisure. During this free time, guests who wish may join our optional Lucerne & Bern & Swiss Alpine Villages by Train: Interlaken & Lauterbrunnen Tour (125 Euro). Our first stop is Lucerne. In Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most popular tourist destinations, famous for its nature and year-round festivals, we will have the chance to photograph views of Mount Pilatus and Mount Rigi, see the Musegg Wall and the Lion Monument in the old town with its historic houses, and visit the city’s symbols, the Chapel Bridge and the Jesuit Church dating back to the 17th century. After the Lucerne tour, we continue to Interlaken. Named “inter-lakes” because of its location between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, Interlaken is famous for its natural beauty and breathtaking views. We will take a walking tour along a route that includes the region’s important hotels, casinos, and shopping streets. Among the historical symbols of the town, we will see the Victoria Jungfrau Hotel and Höhematte Park panoramically. After free time for photos and sightseeing, we move to the train station for our next destination, Lauterbrunnen. Traveling by train from Interlaken, we arrive in Lauterbrunnen after about a 20-minute ride. We will feel the deep structure of the valley and the steep rock walls as soon as we leave the station. Walking toward the village center, we will see the breathtaking Staubbach Falls hanging down toward the valley floor and have the chance to photograph it panoramically. Lauterbrunnen is known for its valley lined with small settlements and hiking paths, home to 72 waterfalls. Along the designated route in the village, we will photograph the traditional chalet architecture of the region, the natural formations surrounding the valley floor, and the wonderful natural landscapes that resemble paradise. We then return to Interlaken to complete the tour. Our next stop is Bern. Bern is one of the rare cities in Europe that has remained unchanged since the Middle Ages. Due to this historical character, it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Located in Switzerland and officially German-speaking, Bern also shows the influence of German culture in its architecture. After our city tour in Bern, built around the Aare River, we return to our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region.
