Our first stop in Tarsus is to visit the Cave of the Seven Sleepers, which holds great significance in both Islam and Christianity.
- We visit the cave, where it is believed that seven individuals, along with their dog, were sheltered for three centuries from the persecution of idolaters, as mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al-Kahf. Next, we head to the Tarsus Waterfall, formed by the high flow of the Berdan (Kydnos) River, and enjoy its therapeutic sounds before moving on to our bus.
- We see the Cleopatra Gate, which is one of the well-preserved city gates from the Roman period in Tarsus, and receive information about it. Following this, we visit the tomb of Prophet Daniel, who delivered the Jews from Babylonian captivity, along with the mosque at the site. We also explore the Forty Spoons Bedesten, which was previously known as the White Bazaar, and take a break for shopping. Then we visit the well of St. Paul, one of the most important saints in Christianity, which has been declared a pilgrimage site, and view sections that have survived since ancient times, receiving information from our guide. After a walking tour among the old streets and houses of Tarsus, we take some free time for tasting and shopping for local products before heading to a famous tantuni place for lunch. After our meal, we move on to the Nusrat Mine Ship, which played a significant role in changing the fate of the Gallipoli naval battles.
