Tour details
ISTANBUL – BASEL – FREIBURG – ALSACE/BASEL After completing baggage drop, ticketing, and passport control procedures at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport’s International Terminal, three hours prior to the flight, we fly to Basel on Pegasus Airlines’ scheduled flight PC941 at 14:25. Upon arrival at Basel Airport at 15:30 local time, we depart by our private coach to Freiburg, an important example of green urbanism, to conduct our city tour. In Freiburg, where only low-carbon vehicles have been allowed since 2010 and transportation is mainly by tram and bicycle, we will see traces of the historical and architectural cultures of Germany, France, Austria, Spain, and Sweden, which the city has been under the protection of throughout its history. During our city tour in Freiburg, also known as the capital of the Black Forest (Schwarzwald), the city’s most important symbol, Freiburg Cathedral, the charming streets with the city’s unique small water channels, Martin’s Tor, the medieval city gate, and Rathausplatz are among the places to be seen. After the Freiburg tour and some free time, we depart for our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region. Upon arrival at the hotel, room check-in and free time to rest. ALSACE/BASEL – (Pearls of Alsace: Colmar & Riquewihr Tour) – (Strasbourg & Outlet Tour) After breakfast, we offer a full day at leisure. During this free time, guests who wish may join our extra tour, Pearls of Alsace: Colmar & Riquewihr Tour (€80). On our tour, we first travel to the fairy-tale town of Colmar, where we will see the Old Customs House, the Pfister House, and the most famous area of the city, Petite Venise (Little Venice), with its colorful houses around the Rhine River. In this unique setting surrounded by the Rhine River and canals, you will have the opportunity to enjoy many delicious local foods and buy souvenirs. Our next stop is Riquewihr, famous for its vineyards, flower-filled balconies, distinctive rows of shops, cobblestone streets closed to car traffic, buildings that somehow escaped damage during World War II, and quaint cafés, as well as its tower that houses the Dolder Museum, which preserves the town’s history with its documents, making it look like a Grimm fairy tale. After the tour, during the free time provided, guests who wish may join our extra Strasbourg & Outlet Tour (€75). Located on the border of Germany, Switzerland, and France, and also the largest city in the Alsace region, Strasbourg welcomes us with a picture-perfect beauty, as if it has come straight out of a fairy tale. Walking through the traffic-free center and streets of Strasbourg, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988 and has hosted the European Parliament since 1992, we will see Petite France, famous for its Alsace houses and likely to make us feel right in the middle of a fairy tale, Gutenberg Square and its statue, Notre Dame Cathedral, the city’s most important landmark in the heart of the city, and Kammerzell House, the city’s oldest house, still serving today as a hotel and restaurant. After some free time following the Strasbourg city tour, we head to the outlet center for a visit. At the outlet center, which is home to the stylish stores of many prestigious brands, cafés, restaurants, and personal activity areas, we will have free time. After the free time at the Outlet Center, we return to our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region. ALSACE/BASEL – (Lucerne & Bern & By Train Swiss Alpine Villages: Interlaken & Lauterbrunnen Tour) After breakfast, we offer a full day at leisure. During this free time, guests who wish may join our extra tour, Lucerne & Bern & By Train Swiss Alpine Villages: Interlaken & Lauterbrunnen Tour (€125). Our first stop is Lucerne. In Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most popular tourist centers, famous for its nature and festivals held throughout the year, we will have the chance to photograph views of Mount Pilatus and Mount Rigi, see the Musegg Wall and the Lion Monument in the old town, and visit the city’s landmark Chapel Bridge and the Jesuit Church dating from the 17th century. After the Lucerne tour, we head to Interlaken. Named “inter-lakes” because it is located between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, Interlaken is famous for its natural beauty and the breathtaking views associated with it. We will carry out our tour here, where important hotels, casinos, and shopping streets are located along our walking route. Among the places we will see panoramically are the Victoria Jungfrau Hotel and Höhematte Park, one of the city’s historical symbols. After some free time for photos and sightseeing, we move to the train station for our next destination, Lauterbrunnen. Taking the train from Interlaken, we arrive in Lauterbrunnen after about a 20-minute journey. We will feel the deep structure of the valley and its steep rock walls as soon as we exit the station. On our walk toward the village center, we will see the enchanting Staubbach Falls cascading down into the valley in panoramic view and have the chance to photograph it. Lauterbrunnen is known for its small settlements and walking paths along the valley, which is home to 72 waterfalls. During our walk along the designated route in the village, we will take lots of photos of the region’s traditional chalet architecture, the natural formations surrounding the valley floor, and its heavenly landscapes. We then return to Interlaken to complete our tour. Our next stop is Bern. Bern is one of the few cities in Europe that has remained unchanged since the Middle Ages. Due to this historical texture, it is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Located within Switzerland and with German as its official language, Bern also shows the influence of German culture in its architecture. After our city tour in Bern, built around the Aare River, we return to our hotel in the Alsace/Basel region. ALSACE/BASEL – BASEL – ISTANBUL After breakfast and hotel check-out, we depart to conduct our Basel city tour. Basel, Switzerland’s third-largest and third-most populous city after Zurich and Geneva, is located in the country’s north, on the borders of Germany and France. In Basel, one of Europe’s most metropolitan cities, where people of many different origins from around the world live, our panoramic city tour will include Marktplatz, considered the city’s main square and home to the government building, Basel Gate (Spalen Gate), one of the city’s oldest structures, Basel Cathedral, and the Rhine River. After the Basel tour and some free time, we head to Basel Airport. After completing baggage drop, check-in, and passport control procedures at the airport, we fly to Istanbul on Pegasus Airlines’ scheduled flight PC942 at 16:35.
