After arriving in Milan, we take a city tour. Milan, one of Europe’s fashion capitals, also stands out for its cuisine, opera, churches, and priceless works of art such as Leonardo Da Vinci’s fresco The Last Supper. Although it is Italy’s business and financial capital, Milan is also the right destination for shopping, nightlife, and dining. During our city tour, we will see the famous opera house La Scala, Duomo Square and Cathedral, La Galleria, where many famous brands are located and where you can enjoy shopping, and Porta Romano. After the Milan city tour, we set off toward Venice. En route, guests who wish may join the optional Verona Tour (50 Euro). Verona, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also home to Italy’s second-largest amphitheater after the Colosseum, and the city where Juliet’s House is located, the setting of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy Romeo & Juliet, the world’s best-known love story. We complete our tour in Verona with a visit to Erbe Square and continue our journey to our hotel in the Venice region. Transfer to our hotel in Venice region. Room check-in and free time to rest. VENICE – (Venice Masterpieces & Hidden Venice Walking Tour) – PISA – FLORENCE After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we depart for Pisa. En route, guests who wish may join the optional Venice Masterpieces and Hidden Venice Walking Tour (80 Euro – including vaporetto and city entrance fees). During our tour in Venice, we will see major iconic landmarks such as St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, designed and used as a symbol of grandeur and power, the Clock Tower, the Bridge of Sighs, and the historic Campanile Bell Tower, all built of stone and marble with its columns brought from Istanbul. We then enjoy a pleasant walk through the streets of Venice, connected by bridges and extending along narrow canals. After some free time at the end of the tour, we continue our journey to Pisa. Upon arrival in Pisa, our tour includes the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the cathedral, the baptistery, and Miracles Square. After a short free time to see and photograph the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, transfer to our hotel in the Florence region. Room check-in and free time to rest. FLORENCE – (San Gimignano & Siena Tour) – ROME After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we head out for a panoramic city tour of Florence. In Florence, the capital of the Renaissance and the hometown of Pinocchio, we first view from the outside the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, immediately recognizable by its orange dome and the 4th largest church in Europe. One of the cathedral’s most notable features is the bronze door known as the “Gates of Paradise,” depicting prophetic stories mentioned in the Quran as well. We then see Giotto’s Bell Tower, which was once used to summon the people to parliament, Signoria Square, the political and social center of Florence for centuries and home to Michelangelo’s famous Statue of David, and the Old Bridge (Ponte Vecchio), famous for its antique and jewelry shops. After the Florence city tour, we depart for Rome. En route, guests who wish may join the optional San Gimignano & Siena Tour (80 Euro). Our first stop is San Gimignano. San Gimignano, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List for preserving its medieval architecture and appearance to this day, is also known as the “Town of Beautiful Towers” thanks to the 14 architectural towers that survived from 76 original towers after wars and natural disasters. In San Gimignano, with its narrow streets that make visitors feel as if they have traveled back to the Middle Ages and its squares from which each street opens, we will enjoy a panoramic view of the 14 magnificent towers during our sightseeing walk. Our next stop is Siena. Siena is famous for its narrow medieval streets, small avenues, and Campo Square, considered one of the largest squares in Europe. In Siena, we enjoy a pleasant walk through Campo Square and the historic narrow streets leading to it, then continue our journey to Rome. Upon arrival in Rome, transfer to our hotel in the Rome region. Room check-in and free time to rest. ROME – (Rome Icons & Nemi Strawberry Village Tour) – (Vatican and Rome Local Neighborhoods Tour) After breakfast, we offer a full day at leisure. Guests who wish may join the optional Rome Icons & Nemi Strawberry Village Tour (85 Euro). Our first stop is Nemi. Known for its wild strawberries and therefore called the “Strawberry Village,” Nemi hosts an annual strawberry festival. In Nemi, where narrow streets open onto squares and the enchanting lake and valley views combine with the scent of strawberries in the air, we enjoy a sightseeing walk before continuing to Rome, the “city at the center of the world” (Urbs aput mundi), which welcomes you with art, history, music, shopping, sunshine, and cuisine, and takes you on a historic journey through buildings in different styles from antiquity to the Renaissance. While the masterpieces created by architects competing with one another attract thousands of tourists to the city in every season, Rome carries even these crowds without overwhelming the visitor, with all its beauty and elegance. During our tour, in Rome, the imperial city that has shaped European civilization and bears witness to 23 centuries of history, we will see the Colosseum, the city’s symbol and the site of gladiator fights during the Roman Empire; the Roman Forum, the ceremonial center of the city in imperial times; the Trevi Fountain, into which, according to legend, those who throw in a coin will return to Rome; the Spanish Steps, famous for street performers; and, panoramically, Piazza Pietra and Piazza Popolo. At the end of the tour, we offer free time in Rome city center at the Pantheon. During this free time, guests who wish may join the optional Vatican and Rome Local Neighborhoods Tour (65 Euro). We begin by seeing Castel Sant’Angelo, the Castle of the Holy Angel, and Navona Square, then visit Vatican City / San Pietro, the center of the Catholic branch of Christianity and the world’s smallest country by area. We offer free time at St. Peter’s Square, where thousands of Catholics gather for worship each year and where, on special occasions, the Pope appears from his residence to greet the public, and where St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest cathedral in the world with 140 statues of saints, is located. Guests who wish may visit the cathedral section free of charge, subject to availability. After the free time, we begin our Rome Local Neighborhoods tour. In this walk, where we mingle with the people of Rome and feel like locals, we experience the real Italian atmosphere in Trastevere, Piazza Trilussa, Ponte Sisto, and the Ghetto area, with its naturalness and simplicity, as well as its cafés, small family-run restaurants, boutiques, greengrocers, butchers, and many other small and charming shops. The tour ends after our walking visit through the narrow, maze-like backstreets with small tables set out, and we return to our hotel in the Rome region. ROME – ISTANBUL After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we depart for Rome Fiumicino Airport for our return flight to Istanbul. Upon arrival at the airport, after completing baggage drop-off, check-in, and passport control procedures, we fly to Istanbul at 11:55 with AJET Airlines’ VF74 flight.
