Our first stop is Girona, a historic city located in northeastern Catalonia, about 100 kilometers north of Barcelona, famous for its medieval narrow streets, historic buildings, museums, churches, and city walls. During our tour here, the Lion statue, Cathedral Square, and the famous Jewish Quarter (El Call) will be among the places seen. After the tour, we continue to Figueres. Figueres is a city located northeast of Girona and is known as the birthplace of Salvador Dali. The city is closely associated with the life and works of the famous Spanish painter Salvador Dali. The most important tourist attraction in Figueres is the Salvador Dali Museum. Dali founded a museum here to leave something in the place where he was born and to exhibit his works. Today, this museum has the largest Dali collection and is considered Dali’s greatest masterpiece because every part of it was designed by Dali himself. The museum contains more than 4,000 works created by Dali using different techniques. After the tour, transfer back to our hotel. 3rd Day Barcelona – Park Güell & Gothic Quarter – Barcelona
After breakfast at the hotel, guests who wish may join the optional tour “Gaudi’s Magnificent Masterpiece, Park Güell & Gothic Quarter” (60 Euro). Our first stop is Park Güell. One of Antoni Gaudi’s magnificent works, Park Güell is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as a fairy-tale park, it creates a magical atmosphere with its colorful stairways and whimsical pavilions. After seeing this wonderful work of Gaudi, our second stop is the Gothic Quarter. In the Gothic Quarter, you can feel the enchanting atmosphere of the Middle Ages and admire the historical texture through its narrow, labyrinth-like streets, Gothic churches, romantic squares, and Roman walls. Among the most important structures in the neighborhood are Barcelona Cathedral, Plaça Reial (Royal Square), Plaça del Rei (King’s Square), and La Rambla. After the tour, guests who wish may join the optional “Gems of Sitges” tour (40 Euro). Sitges is a charming seaside town located southwest of Barcelona on the Mediterranean coast. It is famous for its turquoise sea, beautiful beaches, and lively atmosphere, and is also known for its art and cultural events, hosting many art galleries, museums, and festivals. We begin our visit at the magical stairs of San Bartolome-Santa Tecla Cathedral and lose ourselves in its historic streets. This cathedral, dating from the 17th century, was built on the remains of older Romanesque and Gothic churches. After admiring this magnificent cathedral, our next journey takes us through the historic streets of Sitges, where in the medieval city center, the Maricel Palace and Museum, one of the finest examples of Modernism, is a true paradise for collectors. Across from it, we will see the Cau Ferrat Museum, the home of Santiago Rusiñol, one of the leaders of the modernist movement in Catalonia. As he began exhibiting his paintings here in Sitges, he played a major role in making the town so well known. After walking through the narrow streets where the Sitges Festival, which features horror and fantasy films and attracts thousands of people every year, is held, and seeing the colorful houses and charming bars, we will head toward the beach and spend the rest of our time enjoying the day like the locals here.
