Tour details
1. DAY Istanbul – Basel – Freiburg – Alsace We will meet at Sabiha Gökçen Airport international departures terminal three hours before the flight to complete our ticket and baggage procedures. Our scheduled Ajet Airlines flight to Basel begins. Upon arrival in Basel, which can be described as the crossroads of three countries, we will start our city tour. This beautiful city, where you will witness a synthesized structure of France, Germany, and Switzerland, owes its most distinctive feature to the Rhine River that adorns it. Basel, where trade has been intensive throughout history, has evolved over time into a cultural and industrial center. Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, Germanic tribes began to dominate Basel and its surrounding regions, and from the 5th century onward, they fully controlled the area around the Rhine River. Today, besides being Switzerland’s third-largest city, it also hosts many museums and exhibitions. During our walking city tour, we will see the impressive red-colored City Hall and the Basel Minster, which was built in 1091 as a Catholic church and rebuilt after the great earthquake of 1356. Serving today as a Protestant church, it is listed on the Swiss National Heritage register. Afterwards, we will visit the old city square and market place, Marktplatz. Hosting many festivals, this square is one of the liveliest places in the city. After getting to know Basel, we will take a short break for rest and lunch. We then continue our journey to Freiburg. A German city, Freiburg lies adjacent to the Black Forest. When Freiburg is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is undoubtedly the city center paved with miniature water canals called “Bächle.” Built in the 13th century, these canals were designed to prevent fires in the city. Today, they are among the historical features that attract the most attention from visitors and children. Another notable landmark is the Gothic Freiburg Minster Cathedral rising from the center of the city. After our Freiburg visit, we will be transferred to our hotel. 2. DAY Colmar – Strasbourg – Luxembourg After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for a full-day excursion that will keep us busy until the evening. We continue our tour with a visit to Colmar, the pearl of the Alsace Region. While discovering Colmar, which reflects the historical texture of the region in the most vivid way, you will find yourself in an atmosphere where time seems to stand still. Its colorful half-timbered houses, balconies decorated with flowers, and the canal-lined Le Petit Venice (Little Venice) are among Colmar’s most enchanting spots. After some free time in Colmar, we will continue to Obernai, a town where Alsace wines are produced, and then head to Strasbourg. A city long disputed between Germany and France and passed back and forth many times throughout history, Strasbourg was returned to France again after World War I with the Treaty of Versailles. Known as a symbol of European peace, Strasbourg hosts many international institutions such as the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, and the European Court of Human Rights. In addition to its historical and cultural richness, Strasbourg is surrounded by many canals and waterways. Built on the Ill River, a branch of the Rhine, the city is also home to the Notre Dame Cathedral, once among the largest structures in the world. The historical center of the city, the picturesque medieval quarter La Petite France, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most memorable places in Strasbourg. After the tour, transfer to our hotel and free time to rest. 3. DAY Luxembourg – Metz – Paris After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our Luxembourg tour. Located in the heart of Europe with its strategic position, Luxembourg is among the world’s most economically developed countries. Founded in 963, the city lies at the crossroads of Roman and Germanic cultures and has been influenced by both civilizations. After the Treaty of London, the country reached its present borders, and its official name is the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg; the country and its capital share the same name. In addition to its natural beauty, Luxembourg also impresses visitors with its historical texture. Among the places we will see are the old city Casemates du Bock, with its UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic fortifications and underground tunnels; Place Guillaume, one of the city’s main squares; Notre-Dame Cathedral, built in the 17th century and reflecting Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles; and Chemin de la Corniche, described as the most beautiful balcony in Europe. After our journey, Metz, one of the oldest cities in France, will be our first stop. Having constantly changed hands throughout history due to wars between France and Germany, Metz will greatly impress you with its historically rich atmosphere reflecting both cultures, as well as its magnificent nature. One of the greenest cities in France, Metz has a captivating landscape with the Moselle and Seille Rivers and its lakes. Among the places we will see are the “German Gate,” a medieval structure built by German workers on the Moselle River; the dazzling Saint-Etienne Cathedral, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Place d’Armes Square; the famous Covered Market of Metz; and one of the oldest structures in France, the opera and theater building. Afterwards, we set off for Paris. Our city tour of Paris begins with the famous Champs-Élysées avenue, which immediately comes to mind when shopping is mentioned. Stretching from the Arc de Triomphe to Concorde Square, Champs-Élysées is home to many world-famous fashion brands and is also one of the most vibrant places for gastronomy, entertainment, and artistic events. After free time here, where you can rest after the day’s fatigue, you will be captivated by the grandeur of Champs-Élysées. In the evening, we arrive at our hotel and settle into our rooms, followed by free time. 4. DAY Paris After breakfast at the hotel, we depart to see Paris’s most important highlights. Our first stop will be Montmartre (the Hill of Artists), the city’s most artistic and bohemian district in northern Paris. By bus, we will first see the Pigalle district, famous for its lively nightlife and colorful atmosphere, and home to the world-renowned cabaret show Moulin Rouge. Reaching the Hill of Artists by funicular, we are greeted by the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Once the center of religious life, the construction of Sacré-Cœur began in 1875 to symbolize France’s spiritual renewal, but it was only opened for worship after World War I. After its spiritual transformation, Montmartre became an art center and hosted many famous artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and Emile Zola. You will enjoy wandering through its bohemian streets filled with art galleries, and you will have free time to explore and have lunch. Afterwards, a delightful experience awaits you with a boat tour on the Seine River, during which you will see Paris’s iconic landmarks. During our river cruise, sights such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, Alexandre III Bridge, the Orsay Museum, and the Institut de France are just some of the places we will see panoramically. In the late afternoon, we will ascend to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower, where you can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Paris’s magnificent scenery. Designed for the 1889 Paris World Fair, the tower has since become the symbol of Paris and one of the most magnificent structures in the world.
