Our next stop is Riquewihr, famous for its vineyards, flower-filled balconies, distinctive rows of shops, cobbled streets free of cars, buildings that somehow survived World War II without damage, and charming cafes, including its tower that houses the Dolder Museum, which preserves the city’s history through documents and evokes a Grimm fairy tale. After our visit to Riquewihr, we head to Obernai. In Obernai, where charming buildings that resemble cookies rather than structures welcome us, we will see the town’s most famous square, Place de Marche, the statue of St. Odile, the patron saint of the Alsace region, and the fountain built as a representation, as well as Place de l’Etoile, the square where we will most often see the cookie-like buildings.
