First, we head to the fairytale town of Colmar, where we will see the Old Customs House, Pfister House, and Petite Venise (Little Venice), the city’s most famous district, with its colorful houses around the Rhine River. In this unique setting surrounded by the Rhine River and canals, you will have the opportunity to enjoy many delicious local foods as well as buy souvenirs. Our next stop is Riquewihr, famous for its vineyards, flower-filled balconies, uniquely arranged shops, pedestrian cobblestone streets, buildings that somehow survived World War II without damage, and charming cafés; its tower, which houses the Dolder Museum that preserves the town’s story through documents, makes it look like it came straight out of a Grimm fairy tale. After our visit to Riquewihr, we continue on to Obernai. In Obernai, where charming buildings resembling cookies welcome us, our sightseeing tour will include the town’s most famous square, Place de Marche, the statue of St. Odile, the patron saint of Alsace, and the fountain built in her honor, as well as Place de l’Etoile, the square where the most cookie-like buildings can be seen. After the sightseeing tour in Obernai, free time will be offered, during which guests who wish may join the optional Strasbourg Tour (40 Euro). Our first stop on the tour will be Strasbourg. Located on the border of Germany, Switzerland, and France, and the largest city in the Alsace region, Strasbourg welcomes us like a scene from a fairy tale, in a picture-perfect setting. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and home to the European Parliament since 1992, Strasbourg will be explored on foot in its traffic-free center and streets. During the city tour, places that will make us feel right in the middle of a fairytale world include Petite France, famous for its Alsace houses; Gutenberg Square and Statue; Notre Dame Cathedral, the city’s most important landmark located in the very heart of the city; and Kammerzell House, the oldest building in the city and still operating as a hotel and restaurant.
