Along the way, guests who wish may join our optional Bruges Tour (50 Euro). Known as the “Venice of Belgium” thanks to its houses built over the water and streets consisting of canals, Bruges is regarded as a dream city. The city’s historic fabric and medieval architecture, which fortunately escaped damage during World War II, have survived to the present day. The colorful, single-story houses with roofs resembling cakes that we encounter in the city square, along with churches, statues and cobblestone medieval streets, will transport us into a fairy tale. After our city tour in Bruges, we continue our journey toward Paris. Upon arrival at our hotel in the Paris area, check-in and free time to rest.
PARIS – (Paris Highlights Tour and Seine River Cruise) – (Paris Icons Tour)
After breakfast, we offer a full day of free time. Guests who wish may join our optional Paris Highlights and Seine River Cruise (85 Euro). We begin our Paris Highlights Tour with the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris and even of France. This steel-and-iron structure, built by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Paris World’s Fair, attracted great interest from tourists during and after the 1889 World’s Fair, so its demolition was abandoned and it has survived to the present day. We provide free time around the Eiffel Tower for photography and sightseeing. During this free time, guests who wish may ascend to the tower’s second floor, which consists of three levels accessible by elevator, enjoy the unique view of Paris and take beautiful photographs (the optional elevator fee for the Eiffel Tower is 23€ and is not included in the optional tour price). Following our Eiffel Tower visit, we organize a Seine River cruise. (The boat tour is included in the optional tour price.) The 776-kilometer-long Seine, one of the best-known rivers in the world, divides the city in two. During our cruise aboard long boats moving gently along the river, we will see many of Paris’s famous buildings and the 37 bridges over the river from a unique perspective. After our Seine River cruise, we panoramically view, via the route through Invalides Square, the Lady Diana Memorial, Palais Royal, the 17th-century royal entertainment center, and Comédie-Française Square, home to many historic buildings including the French national theater. We then visit a perfume museum displaying the development of the city and its perfume industry, as well as valuable perfumes with scents and essences unique to France, exhibited in original bottles with aesthetically impressive designs. Finally, we arrive at the BENLUX Store, where free time is provided for shopping and sightseeing among products such as souvenirs, cosmetics, bags, watches and accessories. Guests who wish may visit the Louvre Museum during the free time provided after our photo stop at the museum, which was built as a defensive castle during the Middle Ages and began to be used as a museum after the French Revolution, attracting nearly 10 million visitors in 2012 (the optional entrance fee to the Louvre Museum is 33€ and is not included in the optional tour price). Free time in the city center after the tour. In the evening, guests who wish may join our optional Paris Icons Tour (65 Euro). On our tour, we first visit Montmartre Hill, known as “Artists’ Hill” because bohemian life still continues there today, street painters and caricaturists work there, and many famous painters created their works there; it is also the highest point in Paris. After visiting the Sacré-Cœur Basilica (Church of the Sacred Heart) rising atop this 130-meter hill (the funicular transportation fee is included in the optional tour price), we will have free time to have our portraits drawn in Artists’ Square and explore the area. At the end of the tour, transfer to our hotel.
